About Me

Do I contradict myself? Very well, then, I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes.” – Walt Whitman

Welcome! My name is Monique Gilmore, and I am a recent graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. While at Agnes Scott, I majored in Neuroscience with minors in Spanish and Public Health. In addition, I hold a specialization in Global Learning.

Through this curriculum, in addition to my time in college as a whole, I have been able to hone a wide set of strengths, including soft skills such as inclusivity & collaboration, attention to detail, and strong work ethic, as well as hard skills such as lab & research skills, familiarity with statistical programs, digital literacy, and video editing.

At this time, I plan to enter into a research career within the field of cognitive neuroscience, a field I feel prepared well for by my education.

Through the college’s SUMMIT program, which places an emphasis on global education and leadership skills, I have honed my skills both in probing fundamental questions of value and meaning, and in analyzing human behavior and social relations

Through the Agnes Scott Neuroscience program itself, I have gained a strong understanding of research design, data analysis, and critical thinking, as well as how to critically evaluate scientific literature and intelligently present my research findings. My undergraduate experience has taught me the best approaches for formulating fundamental, meaningful questions; collecting previous literature relevant to the question; using critical thinking to develop sound hypotheses, in addition the best methodologies for collecting and analyzing data, and how to use critical thinking to interpret results and determine the conclusions to form. In addition, I have become well-versed in how to condense information into a concise, engaging format, much more effective for communications and/or implementation of interventions to the public.

I feel prepared well for my next steps, and I am both confident and excited to bring all that I offer to my next stage in my career.

Outside of academia, my world revolves around the arts, which most clearly manifests itself as Onyxwood Productions, a music video production club that I founded while in college, and am now in the process of turning into a small business. However, I am also a singer-songwriter, as well as enjoy acting, drawing, creative writing, scriptwriting, videography, photography, fashion & beauty, the violin, the piano, and of course, the radio.
